Dancehall star "Vybz Kartel" reportedly broken out prison in Jamaica after holding an officer at gunpoint
Dancehall star Vybz Kartel has reportedly broken out of prison in his native Jamaica after holding an officer at gunpoint.
Kartel, real name Adidja Palmer, allegedly started a riot at the Horizon Adult Remand Centre, where he was being held whilst under investigation over his possible involvement in up to seven murders.
It is reported that Kartel and several other prisoners managed to take control of the prison shortly after 1am local time this morning (30/11/11), taking clothes and keys from guards before escaping in a prison maintenance pickup truck at approximately 1.45am.
One police officer is thought to have died of a heart attack during the escape with at least twelve others injured, including two who were shot with guns apparently smuggled into the prison ahead of the raid.
The Force Commissioner of Jamaica's Criminal Investigations Branch has confirmed that Kartel, who has previously worked with the likes of Eminem, Jay-Z and Akon, is on the run and that he and the other escapees are now on the island's most wanted list. - SOURCE - MTV.UK
Ice Cube Explores Police Corruption In New Film "Rampart" [Video Trailer]
Ice Cube's new film Rampart is scheduled to hit theatres on January 27th 2012.
As previously reported, the film also stars Woody Harrelson and centers around the scandals that took place in the Los Angeles Police Department in the 1990s, showcases police misconducts in the Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums (CRASH) anti-gang program including unprovoked shootings, beatings, planting of evidence, framing of suspects, stealing and dealing narcotics, bank robbery, perjury and covering up evidence.
Ice Cube is set to play a LAPD officer alongside Foster, who are colleagues with Harrelson's character, an LAPD officer on a redemptive journey who finds himself embroiled in scandal.
The LAPD, which has widely been criticized for the mishandling of the murder cases of the Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac, have denied allegations that they have ever hired criminals to work as officers in the division.
But according to retired robbery-homicide detective Russell Poole in the critically acclaimed book “Labyrinth”, the police knowingly hired gang members David Mack and Rafael Pérez who were well known throughout the Blood community.

Did Pill Get Dropped From Maybach Music Group?
According to word on the streets, Atlanta rapper Pill was dropped by Maybach Music Group.
While these reports have not been confirmed, according to KarenCivil.com, P-I-L-L may no longer be a member of Rick Ross' MMG empire.
From Karen Civil:
His recent show at S.O.B.'s in NYC was a bomb according to the Village Voice. And for what it's worth, he's been spotted lately without his coveted MMG chain.
Although this news hasn't been confirmed. It wouldn't be surprising.
MMG signees Meek Mill and Wale have had success since joining Rick Ross this year, Pill has been the least productive of the three.

Lil Boosie Sentenced To 8 Years After Pleading Guilty To Conspiring To Smuggle Drugs Into Jail
MTV reports: Lil Boosie has been biding his time behind bars since June 2010, after being charged with first-degree murder, but on Tuesday (November 29), the Baton Rouge, Louisiana, rapper (real name, Torrence Hatch) landed an eight-year prison sentence for drug charges. He pleaded guilty to three counts of conspiring to smuggle drugs into disciplinary facilities.
Local TV station WAFB reports that District Judge Mike Erwin passed down the sentence after Boosie admitted that he tried to smuggle drugs into Louisiana's Dixon Correctional Center and Angola State Penitentiary. Upon hearing his sentence, the 29-year-old rapper requested admittance to a drug rehab program, and while the judge agreed to recommend treatment, he wouldn't order it. Boosie will receive credit for the time he has already served behind bars.
Last June, Boosie pleaded not guilty to one count of first-degree murder, two counts of conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal institution, three counts of possession with intent to distribute narcotics and three counts of conspiracy to commit possession with intent to distribute narcotics.
The first-degree murder charge stemmed from the October 2009 death of Terry Boyd. Boosie is accused of paying hit men to kill the 35-year-old man and, if convicted, he may face the death penalty. During Boosie's stint behind bars, the East Baton Rouge DA's office also began to build another case against Boosie, trying to link him to five additional murders.
During a prison interview in May, the Trill Entertainment rapper told XXL magazine he was being unfairly targeted by the justice system. ""I'm here cause of the songs I made, before I was indicted, about the police in Baton Rouge and what's going on here,'' he said. "There's a lot with our record label that the system don't like. ... They took my hard drive out of my house after I got arrested. I have albums for days in there. They still haven't returned it. They've had it for damn near a year now. I need that music.
Diddy's Son, Justin Combs Lands Scholarship To Play Football For UCLA
Justin Combs is now a UCLA Bruin.
The 17-year old son of Bad Boy CEO, Diddy announced he will be taking his game to the next level by playing football for UCLA according to Fox Sports.
Combs picked UCLA over Wyoming, Virginia and Illinois.
“I'm committed to UCLA,” Combs said. “I was silently committed to UCLA for awhile, but now was the time.”
Combs, 5'9, 170 pounds, played both quarterback and cornerback for Iona Prep High School in New Rochelle, New York. He will most likely play cornerback for UCLA. Combs committed to the Bruins despite the fact they just fired head coach Rick Neuheisel. That doesn't worry Combs at all.
“I have faith in the program that everything will be ok,” Combs said. “My love for UCLA is so strong. I trust and know that everything will work out.”
Combs' famous father is very excited about his son's decision.
“As a parent, today is one of the proudest moments of my life. This is everything a father could want for his son, for him to excel at what he loves to do and is truly passionate about. Justin is a shining example of what hard work, determination and a strong mentality can achieve. I am honored to call him my son and am happy that he is fulfilling his dream," said Diddy, in a statement.

Machine Gun Kelly On DMX & Drake
The online division of RESPECT. caught up with Mr. Machine Gun Kelly. He spoke on his recent session with DMX and joining Drake on stage.
Longevity’s everything. And you’ve worked with some pretty crazy artists lately. You were in the studio with DMX and then you performed with Drake. DMX’s voice is crazy when you hear him just talking. You think he got made fun of as a kid with that voice?
Yeah, DMX is the realest person I’ve ever met in my life. He’s exactly what he says he is.It must have been surreal.
Yeah, he actually came in when I was on top of a table rapping one of his songs, so it was like an awkwardly good moment. And Drake brought you out to perform “Wild Boy” in Cleveland. What does someone like Drake mean to hip-hop? He shows so much love to everyone? He embraces all the younger artists.
It’s fucking cool. It’s tight. You know, I learned from that. I learn from him when he speaks how he does, when he acts how he does towards other artists. It definitely makes me mature as a young artist, it makes me be like, “Okay, maybe shunning people is not the route.” Not that I do that, per se, but I definitely do have a lot of competitiveness in my blood, where I’ll be like, “Shit, muthafucker, I want that number one spot.” But when you see Drake who has the number one spot so willingly give it all, it’s cool.
Wyclef Responds To New York Post
Nearly two years after the earthquake disaster in Haiti, Wyclef’s organization Yele Haiti, is still being accused of mismanagement. According to Sunday’s NY Post article, only $5.1 of the $16 million raised went towards Haiti. Mr. Jean reacted to accusation after the jump.
I started Yele in 2005 because I wanted to help people that were helpless in my home country of Haiti. People who didn’t have a voice, people who didn’t have resources, people who had mostly been forgotten.
Since Yele launched six years ago we have helped close to half a million people. I will always love and serve the Haitian people until the day I die.
The NY Post piece entitled, “Questions Dog Wyclef’s Haiti Fund” is misleading, deceptive and incomplete. The Post conveniently fails to acknowledge that the decisions that Yele made were a response to one of the world’s most catastrophic natural disasters in modern history and required an immediate humanitarian response.
There were no roads, no clean water, no sanitation, no banks, no electricity, no infrastructure. Immediate decisions were made to save lives and alleviate suffering. We made decisions that enabled us to provide emergency assistance in the midst of chaos and we stand by those decisions. We did the best we could with the available resources.
I am proud of the way that Yele handled the crisis on the ground in 2010. We were able to feed, clothe, provide medical assistance and shelter for more than 250 thousand people in need.
What the article doesn’t say is that the construction projects funded by Yele Haiti were responsible for rebuilding an orphanage, building a temporary assistance facility, and had constructed a system of out door toilet and shower facilities in Cite Soliel one of the largest slums in Port-au-Prince.
The Post never highlights that Amisphere Farm Labor was responsible for preparing and delivering close to 100,000 meals.
The Samosa SA property referenced by The Post was located in the vicinity of the largest tent camps in Port-au-Prince. Yele chose that location because it was closest to the people it needed serve.
All of these facts as well as photos and testimonials were readily available to The Post for their story. Unfortunately, they chose not to include these facts and instead chose to imply that Yele “squandered” donors money.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Finally, the percentage of funds used is consistent with NGOs and Not For Profits operating in Haiti at the time. I have acknowledged that Yele has made mistakes in the past, including being late in IRS filings, but that is old news. When I entered politics last summer, I transitioned from being a board member and chairman of Yele Haiti to a supporter.
The new and good news is that Yele under new leadership, despite efforts to undermine its credibility and effectiveness, continues its mission to serve people in need.
