Natalie Mejia of The Pop Group Girlicious Busted With Cocaine

More than a dozen plastic bags of cocaine were found in the Gucci purse belonging to a member of the pop group Girlicious after the entertainer and another man were pulled over for speeding, authorities said Wednesday.

Natalie Mejia, 21, of Diamond Bar was being held Wednesday in Glendale City Jail on suspicion of possession of cocaine for sale or distribution, said Glendale police Sgt. Tom Lorenz. Also arrested on the same charge is 28-year-old Peter Asencio of Burbank.

They were pulled over at Victory Boulevard and Winchester Avenue near an onramp to the Ventura Freeway around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday after an officer noticed a 1998 Ford Mustang speeding through traffic, Lorenz said.

Mejia, who was a passenger in the car and had just dined at a restaurant in Burbank, was heading to the airport and late for a flight, police said.

Police determined that Asencio was driving with suspended driver's license.

A search of the car turned up the bags containing what appeared to be cocaine in Mejia’s Gucci purse, Lorenz said. Mejia told officers the drugs did not belong to her and that she did not know how they got into her purse.
Lorenz said a preliminary investigation found the drugs may have been placed in her purse by Asencio, although investigators are trying to determine Mejia's role through further interviews and forensics testing.

Mejia posted $30,000 bail Wednesday afternoon and is due in court April 15.

Frank Lucas And the Real Rick Ross Warns Youth About Gangsterism

Rick Ross and Frank Lucas, two of the most notorious former drug dealers in America, told Chicago youth to stay in school and ignore hustlers on the corner block to avoid the perils of prison and lead a righteously successful life.
Both Mr. Lucas, who is wheelchair-bound, and Mr. Ross, fresh out of prison, were both featured in the BET series, “American Gangster,” but they told their own stories during the “Redefining the American Gangster” seminar during the Nation of Islam's Saviours' Day Convention.

Mr. Ross had always watched the event from prison, so to actually appear was a big achievement for him, something he always wanted to do, he said. “I'd never heard about Saviours' Day before I went to prison. I didn't know that Black people got together like this. I thought the only place that we got together was on the street corners, gang banging, football, basketball. I didn't know that civilized, thinking, Blacks got together and when I saw it I couldn't believe it,” he said.

Ashahed Muhammad, Assistant Editor of The Final Call Newspaper, moderated the primarily Q&A session. “If there's a group that believes in allowing everyone to tell their story of redemption, I can't think of a better location and better atmosphere than coming to speak at Saviours' Day with members of the Nation of Islam and others who have joined us from all across the United States,” Bro. Ashahed said.

The guests took questions about their personal roads to redemption, their current projects and future plans, and personal advice on how to end youth violence.

Mr. Lucas is working on his book, “The Original Gangster,” and he speaks to youth at Ohio State University and various high schools across the country. Mr. Ross is working on a movie about his life and various entrepreneurial projects. Since his release, he has traveled to different cities, speaking to youth, encouraging them to be critical thinkers and make choices that are best for them.

“I couldn't analyze what was right and what was wrong at one time. We have so many influences pulling us the wrong way and very little pulling us the right way, with the TV, if you don't have a pair of Nikes, that you ain't cool if you don't wear this type of jacket, you ain't in .... You have to think long term and know what's going to benefit you in the long run,” Mr. Ross said.

He readily admits that the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan made moving forward to redeem himself very easy by helping him understand that he doesn't have to look at his past as a negative if he uses it save thousands of other young men and women coming up under the same experience.

“When he told me that I dropped the regret and started looking for the ways that I could use my life to benefit others and hopefully turn somebody else from the way that I went,” Mr. Ross said.

Mr. Lucas expressed remorse for his role in the drug game and said there was nothing that he could do about it now. However, from here on out he will try to straighten things out for the youth, he said.

Frank Muhammad from Jacksonville, Mississippi sought advice from the legends on how to end violence among youth that look up to both of them.

“Go back and tell the kids to go to school. Get their education. Get the hell out the streets and stop listening to the guy on the corner with the gold chain and big Cadillacs and Rolls Royces. Do not let them trick them ... Do something for the kids, man. Go help them. Take them to school if you have to,” Mr. Lucas admonished.

“They can't go the Frank Lucas way no more. If they try it now, they'll go to jail without possibility of parole and when they come out, it'll be with a tag on their toe. Believe me,” he added.

Ezekiel Phillips, a former gang member, now a student at Morehouse College, looked for guidance on how to deal with the problems he is experiencing as he continues to try to reform his own life. “I want to continue to lead, love, and save and serve, but at the same time it's a whole lot of haters, so what advice would you give to me,” he asked.

Mr. Ross encouraged him to walk away from anything that puts his freedom and life in jeopardy. “If your homies don't want to walk away, you gotta walk past him ... If my friends don't come with me, I'm not going back with them,” he said.

" I ain’t never really did this but right now I need all of my fans help. A lot of radio stations aren’t playing my records. They are not being that supportive and I wouldn’t expect them to. It’s on the fans and what you guys do in your power to bring me back. That’s all I need is you guys and nothing else will do that except for the fans.

I don’t know what else to say. It’s nothing else that I can do. I’m doing everything that I need to do. I’m doing me as a person and I’m a better guy.

It’s on ya’ll. My singing and my music I do it for you guys and everything else but it won’t be possible if I’m not relevant on the radio and it wouldn’t be possible for me to be an artist if I don’t have the support. I can’t be an underground mixtape artist. That’s where we are. I just want all my fans to help me. I love ya’ll. Peace

This must have been very hard and humbling for Chris Brown to do

Lil' Wayne Won't Get Preferential Treatment In Prison

Lil Wayne will get no special treatment during his jail time and will serve his one year in under a general population escort status. According to Correctional Department spokesperson Stephen Morello, Lil Wayne will be under "escort status"

Whenever Wayne wants to leave his cell and go to the yard or wherever he will be accompanied by a corrections captain. Wayne will be housed in an unit with 17 other inmates. Lil Wayne decided not to go with a jail coach, but experts say that during your first 24 hours in jail "the best thing to do in the first is to keep your mouth shut as much as possible," Ross told MTV News. "Keep your eyes open and basically do as you're told by the correction officers. Essentially, you shouldn't look at other inmates in the eye, 'cause to a lot of people, that may be considered an aggressive type of action. Also, don't look at their property, because they may feel like that's aggressive as well and that you want their property.

Katt Williams Sued For $1 Mil Over Attack Dog; Assault

Katt Williams is being sued by a recording studio owner who claims the comedian stiffed him on a $28,600 bill.

When the owner attempted to collect from the funny man, things got nasty.

Merion Powers filed the lawsuit in Fulton County Superior Court, claiming Williams, of Detroit, used his studio to record his comedy routines.

Williams allegedly showed up to Powers’ studio in October 2009 with his “attack dog.”

Upon a verbal command from Williams, his dog pounced on a dog owned by Powers, causing an injury to the animal that required veterinary treatment.

In December, Williams asked Powers to meet him at the Four Seasons Hotel to discuss the incident.

When he arrived, he allegedly told Williams he was thinking of filing criminal charges over the dog attack.

Williams allegedly threatened to kill Powers in the hotel room, while his attack dog circled Powers snarling at the man.

One of Williams‘ bodyguards then restrained Powers from behind while Williams punched the man in the face, as the attack dog stood by, “apparently waiting for the attack signal.”

Powers seeks at least $1 million dollars in damages.

Legacy Salute: Biggie's Best, Part 1

Legacy Salute: Biggie's Best, Part 1

Tuesday (March 9) marks the 13th anniversary of the death of the Notorious B.I.G. There aren't enough accolades to give the Brooklyn bone-crusher. Biggie helped mold one of the greatest eras in hip-hop with a versatile style and gift for wordplay that has him perennially listed in the top three when you ask most hip-hop fans to name the greatest MCs of all time. Here, your favorite hip-hop team chooses some of Frank White's pre-eminent musical accomplishments.

Best Album
Shaheem Reid: Life After Death
How do you distinguish extreme excellence? How do you look at two albums by the same artist — both of which you feel are in the top 10 greatest hip-hop creations ever made — and put one over the other? Ready to Die vs. Life After Death is a subject I've debated going on 10 years now. No argument has a clear-cut winner. Both albums are classics. Both have stood the test of time. You can't logically dis a song on either LP. There might be some records you prefer over others, but Big didn't have anything wack on his albums. For me, though, I go with Life simply because I feel that it was Biggie at his best. He had evolved. He grew. Big touched all bases from the 'hood to Hollywood in two immaculately put-together discs — a feat that no other MC has been able to duplicate since. Nothing could ever replicate the initial euphoria that Ready brought, but Life was the master with his craft fully perfected.

Rahman Dukes: Ready to Die
Nothing can replace that feeling hip-hop heads in New York City experienced in the days leading up to this release. I specifically recall the Friday before RTD was set to shock the world. It seemed like every car from Brooklyn to Queens was pumping "Juicy" and "Unbelievable." Back then, albums were on cassette tapes and not bootlegged. Imagine hearing this flawless masterpiece for the first time in its entirety. The East Coast ran hip hop in the '90s, and Ready was the icing on the cake. The movement the album set off in the Tri-State Area was the first to do it, only duplicated years later when 50 Cent dropped Get Rich or Die Tryin'. Hmm, that title Get Rich or Die Tryin' sounds eerily similar to ... you know the rest.

Best Single
Unanimous Choice: "Hypnotize"
"Hypnotize" had the million-dollar video with the mermaids and the car chases, but it's way more than the visual production that puts this record slightly above our other favorites Big singles like "Big Poppa" and "One More Chance." "Hypnotize" was so hot in its heyday that it felt like the walls in the club would just melt when the DJs pulled it back (sometimes up to 10 times in a row). We were absolutely devastated that Big was gone, but this record helped us get through it. Big left us three and a half minutes of pure jubilation to celebrate his life and legacy.

Best Album Cut
Reid: "The What" from Ready to Die
The Bad Boy/ Wu-Tang Clan pairing was too much. "N---as know soft like the Twinkie fillin'/ Playing the villain/ Prepare for this rap killin'/ Biggie Smalls is the illest/ Your style is played out like Arnold and that 'What you talkin' bout Willis.' " Big was as merciless as an NFL linebacker attacking the blindside of an unsuspecting quarterback, wonderfully cocky and as humorous as eight episodes of "Def Comedy Jam" all in just a few bars. You put that with a hungry and focused Method Man, who lyrically spat broken glass all over the track, and you wonder why Diddy — in his infinite wisdom — never pushed the button on this classic with radio adds and a video.

Dukes: "Everyday Struggle" from Ready to Die
B.I.G. was a true master at making some of the most hard-core tracks come off as commercial material. If you tune out exactly what he was saying on songs such as this one, you'd think it was something that you could expect to hear on regular rotation. But then there are lines like this: "I got my honeys on the Amtrak/ With the crack in the crack of her ass/ Two pounds of hash in the stash/ I wait for hon to make some quick cash/ I told her she could be lieutenant, bi--- got gassed." It's a bit explicit, but I'm sure you get my point.

Best Guest Appearance
Reid: Jay-Z's "Brooklyn's Finest"
Another tough one. Big was prolific not just with his own projects, but with doling out the love on his peers' records as well. I had an inner conflict trying to figure out if I should go with Shaq's "You Can't Stop the Reign," where the swagga was off the Richter, or Puff's "Victory." But in the end, I had to give it to his back-and-forth with Jigga. Both MCs were relentless, neither one wanting to let the other get the upper hand. In the end, Big and Jigga made the best tag-team duo since Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh on "The Show."

Dukes: Shaquille O'Neal's "You Can't Stop the Reign"
I think the beauty behind this monster is that this record came out around the time when B.I.G. was in rehab and took a break from the rap game. The wordplay on this song is historical. "A lime to a lemon/ My D.C. women bringin' in to G-minimums/ To condos with elevators in them/ Vehicles with televisions in them/ Watch they entourage turn yours to just mirages/ Disappearin' acts, strictly nines and macs/ Killers be surreal, Copperfield material/ My dreams is vivid, work hard to live it/ Any place I visit I got land there/ How can players stand there and say I sound like them, hello." Ten years since the release of this song, nothing comes close to what Big had to say. The irony is that he gave such a jewel away to Shaquille O'Neal. Shaq, you owe the Christopher Wallace estate big time for this one.

T.I. Swap Freedom with Lil Wayne

On the day the hip-hop nation lost one of its beloved and prolific megastars, another one has returned.

Just hours after Lil Wayne was sentenced to one year in prison on weapons charges, T.I. gave the world notice that he's returning with a vengeance. The King of the South announced to a select group of DJs in a conference call that his new album is coming out on August 24 — and, as expected, he released his new single, "I'm Back."

"I ain't never let you down, I'mma shine on sight," Tip raps on the song. "Keep your mind on your grind and off of mine's, all right?/ Hard, I'mma ball on those squares, I flow/ A quarter million dollar cars everywhere I go ... No matter what they doin' they don't do it like me ... recognize I'm back."

Later in the first verse, Tip lays the fiery, brash delivery he's beloved for.

"You ain't got a pimp bone in your body," Tip chastises, throwing thunder at fraudulent MCs. "I can tell you ain't never bought a key or caught a body/ N---a probably just seen Wayne, Gucci Mane, me and Boosie all go to prison/ Now he flip his whole image/ N---a trippin'/ Listen, dude, for you that ain't in the cards." The song was helmed by new Grand Hustle producers the Trackslayerz, and is available for download at T.I.'s Web site.

An hour before the song hit the Internet, Tip held the conference call, for which he did not take questions but reflected on the song and announced his album's release date, according to audio of the call posted on DJ Judge Mental's Web site. There is a title for the LP, but he declined to reveal it.

"I appreciate the support and how hard I was going in during the brief hiatus," Tip said. "The support don't go unnoticed and I don't take it lightly. This marks a special day for us, because we putting out the first song off the album — not an official first single, just something to keep the streets warm. It's properly entitled 'I'm Back.' It's a lot of things that needed to be spoken on. In my absence, it was a lot of things that went down, a lot of matters that needed to be addressed. This was the greatest platform for me to do it. It was the first song I did when I came home. You get me fresh out the box going in. I'm sure you guys will enjoy it."

Tip spoke for a little over three minutes. He said that he should be traveling from city to city this summer.

"It ain't gonna be long before all this is behind me," he promised, referring to his prison sentence on weapons charges, which is expected to end within the next few weeks; he was released to a halfway house in December and last month made his first public appearance since heading to prison. "Middle of April, beginning of May. Y'all gonna start seeing me. Y'all already know, once again it's on. Like we always do this time."

The call ended with a final pledge of excellence from Tip.

"As long as there is air in my esophagus, champ, I'mma keep going," he said. "Nothing is gonna stop that. Nothing short of a 12 gauge is gonna stop me from doing what I do, champ. I just wanna say thank y'all and we gonna keep movin' on."

Lil Wayne Arrives At Riker's Island Jail

So Lil Wayne has arrived at Riker's Island jail in NYC. He was transported there in a corrections van by himself due to his high popularity. According to TMZ, he still undergoing admissions procedure, including a mental and physical questionnaire and exam. The good thing is that if he's hungry, the chef has already cooked up some food, noodles and beef sausage with sauce, steamed greens, mixed green salad, fruit juice or tea, and sliced peaches with whole wheat bread. He's facing a year in the slammer, but could possible get out if he's on good behavior.

After a few setbacks and delays, Lil Wayne will be going to jail. Weezy was supposed to go to prison last month, but was able to get his sentencing date pushed back so he can receive dental surgery. Then last week he was supposed to go in, but there was a fire in his courthouse while Wayne was on his way there, so there was another delay.

But Lil Wayne was sentenced today, as planned when he pleaded guilty in October to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. He admitted illegally having a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun on his tour bus in July 2007.

Although Lil Wayne will be unavailable from the music scene for a while, him and his Young Money crew have prepared accordingly. He' s shot a whole bunch of videos, and has tons of music available for release while he's gone. He's also got a Twitter set up also, so his internet presence is felt.

Don't be upset for Lil Wayne though, his Young Money crew is relocating to New York to be closer to the boss man, and Wayne will be able to get visits so he won't be too lonely.

What will you miss about Lil Wayne while he's in jail? Do you think his reign on music will stay strong?

D'Angelo Arrested For Trying To Buy A Blowjob

it would seem as if one of R&B’s best and brightest, D' Angelo has been busted and not in the way he planned after he allegedly asked a under cover female officer for oral sex. Reports say he believed the woman to be a prostitute which landed him in this predicament.

Grammy Award-winning R&B singer D’Angelo was arrested early yesterday after allegedly offering an undercover policewoman $40 for oral sex while cruising alone through the West Village — with $12,000 stashed in his SUV.

D’Angelo, 36, whose real name is Michael Archer, was in his top-of-the-line Range Rover at Greenwich and Horatio streets at about 2:30 a.m. when he spotted a woman he took to be a prostitute.

Eight Teens Shot After Waka Flocka Concert; Police Say Rappers May Have Incited Violence

Eight teenagers were shot after a performance by Atlanta rapper Waka Flocka Flames late Friday evening (March 5) in Gary, Indiana.

Waka Flocka Flames performed at the World of Skates skating rink.

During the event, a fight broke out, prompting security to order all patrons to leave the venue.

As 200 teens waited in the parking lot, a gunman or gunmen opened fire on 200 teenagers who were waiting for their rides. "Our kids are kids.

"They're teenagers that came to a venue and saw a rapper perform and then went home. As far as I'm concerned, my kids have nothing to do with what was going on," World of Skates manager James Sisson told the Post-Tribune.

The wounded teens were taken to St. Catherine Hospital, Methodist Hospitals and Saint Margaret Mercy in Hammond, Ind, where they were treated for non-life threatening wounds.

Police accused Waka Flocka’s hype man of inciting the crowd by pitting the “East side” against the “West side,” which may have started the fight Police Cmdr. Michael Mallett told the Post-Tribune.

"The kids have separated themselves into east and west sides," Mallet said. "They've been doing it for many years now, but it's gotten worse, especially when you have entertainers making references to East Side vs. West Side. The youth in our community have taken it to heart."

No arrests have been made as of press time.
