Killer Mike and El-P announce their upcoming 'R.A.P. Music (Rebellious African Peoples Music)' album and provide listeners with a song snippet.
If 9th Wonder and David Banner's recent joint album Death of a Pop Star was a head turning listen, then 2011 will prove shocking for Hip Hop fans. Earlier this week, news broke that veteran southern emcee Killer Mike was teaming up with legendary Def Jux founder El-P to release a collaborative album.
Titled R.A.P. Music (Rebellious African Peoples Music), the album is set to be released mid-2011 through Adult Swim's Williams Street Records. Although few details have been revealed about the project,
MauriceGarland.com reports that the album will "...also include production from a few of your other favorite 'underground' producers and MC’s."
Killer Mike took to Twitter to inform fans of his recent work with the Company Flow producer/emcee.

"Whenever Nas is ready, I'm ready," J. Cole tells Bootleg Kev about doing a potential album with the Queensbridge legend.
From his arrival in mainstream Hip Hop over the last two years, North Carolina's J. Cole has been frequently compared to emcee legend Nas. In a recent interview with Bootleg Kev, the Roc Nation hopeful candidly spoke on that discussion. "It don't even sound right to me [that I'm compared frequently to Nas], 'cause Nas is [in] another stratosphere, but there has been some dialogue," said Cole. The emcee continued, revealing a mutual affinity for each other's work, when they crossed paths. "When I met him, I tried to give him like extra props - like I tried to bow down in his presence. He kinda wouldn't let me, 'cause he's like, 'Man, I'm a fan of yours.'" Taken aback by the exchange, Cole asserts that it's unusual for the iconic 20-year veteran to respect an artist without even a single album released to date. "It's impossible for you to be a fan of mine; it's not supposed to happen like that."
Asked by Bootleg Kev about the likelihood of a collaboration, Cole said, "Man, I'd do a whole album with Nas." More than just speculation, J added, "Whenever Nas is ready, I'm ready."
R&B legend Teena Marie has died, her manager confirmed on the 26th of December
Although no cause of death has been released as of press time, Teena Marie's publicist revealed that the singer had suffered a grand mal seizure last month in Los Angeles.
Teena Marie, 54, was born Mary Christine Brockert. She recorded a number of hit singles in the 70's, 80's, 90's and the 2000's.
Teena Marie was known for classic songs like "I'm A Sucker For Your Love" featuring Rick James, "Fire and Desire" featuring Rick James, "Behind the Groove," "Portuguese Love," "Dear Lover," "Out on A Limb" and "Square Biz," which featured her rapping.
Teena Marie originally signed with Motown in 1976 and was a protege of James, who took her under his wing shortly after she signed with the label.
Throughout the years, Teena Marie's was regularly sampled by a variety of rappers.
Artists like The Fugees ("Fu-Gee-La"), The Firm "Firm Biz" Jadakiss "By My Side featuring Ne-Yo" and numerous others have all incorporated Tina Marie's music into their own.
At one point, Teena Marie was also signed to Cash Money Records, where she released two albums for the label.
La Dona (2004) produced the single "I'm Still In Love," while her final album for Cash Money titled Sapphire (2007) produced the Top 40 single "Ooh Wee."
Bryan Williams paid tribute to Teena Marie via his official Twitter page. "R.I.P. Tina Marie," Birdman said.
“We’re shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden loss of Teena Marie," said Philadelphia International Records' founders, Gamble & Huff, who honored Teena Marie in Philadelphia in 2008, during the R&B Foundation's Hall of Fame Induction ceremony for the singer.
"She was one of the most memorable, soulful and unique R&B vocalists to come out of Motown. We send or condolences to Teena’s family, the entire Motown family and of course, our dear friend Berry Gordy,” Gamble & Huff said.
