Joell Ortiz Confirms Writing For Dr. Dre's "Detox," "Free Agent" Delays To 2011

Due for release today, "Free Agent" will likely come in January, while Joell Ortiz says that since Dr. Dre made his Christmas nice in '07, that he penned two possible "Detox" records.

Brooklyn emcee Joell Ortiz was expected to release Free Agent today. The sophomore solo album from the Slaughterhouse emcee will now see release in 2011. A spokesperson from E1 Entertainment confirmed this to HipHopDX yesterday. The album boasts production from respected hit-makers DJ Premier, Large Professor and Cool & Dre, as well as appearances from Fat Joe and The L.O.X.

Speaking with DJ Envy during MTV's Sucker Free, Ortiz spoke a bit on the album, in relation to his 2007 debut, The Brick: Bodega Chronicles. "If you like The Brick, [Free Agent] is like The Brick with HGH." He continued, "This is a rapper's album. If you want to press the rewind button, and if you want to go, 'Oh, what did he just say?', if you want to zone out, and just chill out ride out in your whip and just think about life, then this is the record for you."

Looking back at the experience, Joell noted, "He made my '07 Christmas the best I ever had." The emcee did confirm that he may have a hand in Dre's third solo album. "I wrote on the Detox [album]. I got some money from that; he's a great business guy." With Slaughterhouse band-mate Royce Da 5'9" writing for Dre previously, Ortiz revealed the process. "He gave me 10 beats, I sent him 20 songs - so that was a blessing."

Free Agent is expected to release in January of 2011.

Ice Cube Talks Positive N.W.A. Memories, Groupies

Although N.W.A. and Ice Cube had a well-documented falling out, Cube still remembers the good ol' days.

In an interview with Hustler , Cube reminisced about the positive experiences he had. "My best memory was that we were doing something constructive," explained Cube. "You know what I mean? There were so many things to get into that weren’t constructive. I felt good that I was doing something that was not only fun, but also being a part of Hip Hop and being respected. Even before N.W.A. it was about finding something to do.

Because I grew up in an area [of South Central Los Angeles] where we used to have after-school programs. We used to have Little League. But as soon as I came of age, all those things started leaving the community. We were still into football and basketball, but the parks were closing, and things started to dwindle."

Cube continued, adding, "We were looking for more things to get into. You could either get into good shit or get into bad shit. Hip-hop was good even though adults didn’t like it. It had a good energy. With N.W.A., I was around people that were making records. We had a style that we knew people in our neighborhood liked, but didn’t know people would like around the world. So being West Coast rappers, we went for it! I still haven’t come down off that cloud which has carried me on this journey. I’m still riding that same wave that started when I was 17 years old."

Hustler, perhaps appropriately, asked Cube about the groupie scene. "The groupie situation don’t change. (Laughs.) They always the same. You got a group that people like, the women gonna be around. Period. I don’t know if that will ever stop."

And how does Cube, a married man, deal with the temptation? "I don’t give a fuck about groupies no more! Them days is over. I’ve been in the game over 20 years, man. The whole scene is played out."

Kandi Burruss pays homage to hometown buddies OutKast by sampling the duo’s classic “Elevators” on “Me & U” off her upcoming album Kandi Koated (Dec. 14). The ballad, co-written by and featuring Ne-Yo, is dedicated to her man, with lyrics detailing how the couple is almost the same person. “Me and you, there’s almost no such thing as us two/ We’re almost one person now,” she sings over the slinky instrumental.

“I love that song, partially because [Ne-Yo's] production team, they took the song ‘Elevators’ by OutKast and flipped the track,” the “Real Housewife of Atlanta” previously said. “I’m an ATLien, and when he turned that track and flipped it, he made it into a love song.”

Nelly Blames Motown/Universal For Disappointing Sales Of '5.0'

St. Louis rap star Nelly has lashed out at his record label, Motown/Universal over the disappointing sales figures for his latest album 5.0, which landed in stores last week.

5.0, which was released on November 16th, landed at #10 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart after moving over 63,000 copies.

Nelly released his album one week before high profile releases by Kanye West and Nicki Minaj, who both trounced the superstar rapper in sales the following week.

Universal label mate Kanye West sold over 530,000 copies of his album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasty, which is expected to debut at #1 this week.

Female rapper Nicki Minaj, also on Motown/Universal, outsold Nelly's 6th, album by moving 400,000 copies of her debut Pink Friday, during her first week.

The rapper took to Twitter and blamed Motown/Universal for lack of marketing as the culprit behind the slip in sales.

"A record deal is a 50/50 partnership! As a artist its your job to provide the record company with music that they(record company) can sell," Nelly tweeted. "Thing about the partnership is that n the public eye the responsibility is not 50/50!the artist is always the 1who catches 90% of the blame

The rapper pointed out that his latest album 5.0 has already produced a hit single titled "Just a Dream," which according to Nelly, has sold almost 2 million digital copies.

But the sale of the single didn't translate into successful albums sales for Nelly, who compared artists on record labels to Interns, with no real bargaining power.

Nelly also accused Motown/Universal for undershipping his record.

"If u only ship 200 thound [thousand] of an album how many are u f#cking tryen [sic] to sell??," Nelly tweeted in anger. "The artist does control that nor does he or she control marketing."

Nelly's last album Sweat/Suit peaked at #1 on Billboard's Top 200 charts in 2005, moving over 400,000 copies during the first week in stores.

Lady Gaga Says Born This Way Will Be 'Greatest Album Of This Decade'

Singer says there may be up to 20 new songs on the new album.

Mtv reports: It has been months since Lady Gaga first started hyping her forthcoming album, Born This Way, and the pop visionary recently raised the stakes. During a Monster Ball tour performance in Poland on Friday, the always bold singer promised fans that she'd deliver "the greatest album of this decade," with possibly up to 20 new tracks. She also revealed that Born This Way doesn't follow current trends.

"I promise you, I'll never let you down. And not for nothing: The album's finished and it's f---ing really good," Gaga tearfully told the audience, who simultaneous held up signs that read "Born This Way" backward. "So whatever this is, whatever you just did for all of us ... I promise to give you the greatest album of this decade, just for you."

The singer, who is prepping a promotional campaign for the album, also touched base on what sounds like a possible dig at her pop competitors, saying, "The funny thing is that some people have reduced freedom to a brand. They think that it's trendy now to be free. They think it's trendy to be excited about your identity. When in truth, there is nothing trendy about Born This Way."

Describing the new album as "a spirit" and "this connection that we all share," the pop star confessed that her new music "is something so much deeper than a wig or lipstick or an outfit, or a f---ing meat dress. ... Born This Way is about what keeps us up at night and what makes us afraid."

Gaga isn't the only who has been talking up the new material, as everyone from the singer's manager, Akon, Elton John and Monster Ball opening act Semi Precious Weapons have also gushed about the album.

While the songstress told the crowd that the LP will consist of mostly "f---ing sledge-hammering dance," she's still unsure of the length of Born This Way, but plans to give fans as much music as possible.

"I'm still deciding, the album could be longer than you would imagine ... I'm not sure," she said. "I can't decide, really, because I think that times are different, you know. It used to be kind of a faux pas to put out too much music on your album, but I feel like you guys deserve all of the records I do, 'cause I work hard on them. So who knows, you might get, like, 20 new Gaga songs."

Alicia Keys, Lady GaGa, Kim Kardashian and More to Quit Twitter for Charity

They would be off the digital world until a million dollar is raised for Keep a Child Alive, an organization that would benefit families affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.

Alicia Keys has successfully urged her celebrity friends to quit Twitter and make it worthwhile at the same time. From Lady GaGa to Kim Kardashian, a number of stars have joined Keys' initiative to raise money for charity by quitting the microblogging site as well as Facebook for a period of time.

Called Digital Life Sacrifice, the campaign would see the entertainers ditching the digital world starting Wednesday, December 1 aka World AIDS day until they raise a million dollars for Keys' AIDS charity, Keep a Child Alive. In addition, they would also film "last tweet and testament" videos and appear in ads that show them lying in coffins to reflect what they mean by "digital deaths".

"It's really important and super-cool to use mediums that we naturally are on," Keys told The Associated Press. She added, "This is such a direct and instantly emotional way and a little sarcastic, you know, of a way to get people to pay attention."

She further revealed that all the celebrities whom she approached did not hesitate to say yes. They are Keys' husband Swizz Beatz, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Hudson, Serena Williams, Elijah Wood, Usher, Khloe Kardashian, Janelle Monae and Ryan Seacrest.

Most of these stars have more than a million followers who could easily contribute a dollar each to fulfill the goal. GaGa in particular has more than 7.2 million followers on Twitter. "I have a feeling that GaGa is going to raise it all by herself," Leigh Blake, the president and co-founder of Keep a Child Alive said.

Donations are accepted through text messages and bar-code technology which is featured in the charity's Buy Life campaign. For more details head on to KeepAChildAlive.org.

J. Cole Still Not Ready to Feature Jay-Z

When you’re signed to Roc Nation, Jay-Z may only be a phone call away, but J. Cole is not ready to make that call just yet. The Roc Nation rapper is still looking for the perfect record for his boss to jump on.

While they’ve worked together on “A Star Is Born” from Jay’s Blueprint 3 album, Cole has yet to find the right collaboration for his debut. “I haven’t found the song that we wanna do yet, but there was one that almost happened, that he was about to write to,” he said. “I didn’t even write to it. I just gave him the beat like, ‘Yo, I think you would sound good on this.’ I’m glad nothing really happened because a few months later I realized that’s not the one.”

There have been other contenders, including one on his newest mixtape Friday Night Lights. “There was this one record we were gonna do. Even the song ‘Enchanted’ off the mixtape, that’s a song that when I first did it, I heard Jay-Z. I’m thinkin’ like, ‘Man, is this gonna be the song?’” he says. “But I’m really particular and picky, just by the way I move and handle my announcements and everything. I’m really calculated.”

The North Carolina native hopes that by the time his album drops in the spring, he will find that record. “I’m definitely hoping. I plan on it. Every new song I do for the album is getting better and better, so hopefully I’ll do the one for me and Jay soon.”

He has, however, played the majority of the eagerly-awaited project for his boss. “I haven’t sat down and played him it in its entirety, front to back, ’cause I don’t even know what that is yet. But I played him pretty much all the songs that are on the album at some point, either when I first did ‘em or like four or five in a batch. But yeah, Jay has heard all the music.”

J. Cole’s as-yet-untitled debut is due in the spring featuring production from No I.D., Danjahandz, and Brian Kidd.

Losing His Voice Due to Puberty, Justin Bieber Hires Usher's Vocal Coach

One of the things Justin Bieber does to keep his voice from breaking reportedly is by getting 'much vocal rest as humanly possible for a working pop star.'

Justin Bieber reportedly is facing a problem with his voice now that he has reached puberty. The 16-year-old Canadian singer is allegedly working with "the same people who worked with Usher when his voice broke" to solve the issue.

"Justin is physically developing at a slower rate than most guys so his voice is only breaking now," a source said as quoted by News of the World. "He's working with the best in the business, a specialist called Jan Smith, to make sure he gets much vocal rest as humanly possible for a working pop star."

Justin Bieber himself has predicted his voice would crack due to puberty, but he didn't see it as a big deal. "Everyone's voice changes, puberty is a natural thing," he said earlier this year. "It cracks. Like every teenage boy, I'm dealing with it and I have the best vocal coach in the world and we're working on my voice and doing what I need to do."

He added, "It's not like as soon as you hit puberty you stop singing." Explaining one of the tricks he did to deal with the voice breaking, he shared, "Some of the notes I hit on 'Baby' I can't hit anymore. We have to lower the key when I sing live."

Warren G Gives Health Update On Nate Dogg [Video]

Hip hop fans remember Nate Dogg for his appearances on hit records from artists like Dr Dre, Ludacris, Jadakiss, Eminem and many more, as well as his solo albums. He and Warren G helped pioneer that West Coast G-Funk style of music. And when it came to singing hooks, the man had the game on lock.

After suffering two debilitating strokes, Nate is on the tough road back to recovery.

In a recent interview with Hip Hop Hollywood, good friend Warren G talked about Nate's progress.

"Nate is in a lot of therapy right now. We actually got a website coming out where people can send donations," Warren said. "That's gonna help out with him, help him get back on his feet. Plus us in the industry, we're gonna do a lot to help out with him."

When asked if Nate would ever sing again, Warren said he was hopeful.

"Everybody just gotta keep him in their prayers, cause he had two strokes and that's real dangerous. And a lot of people don't come back from that. Luther Vandross did it, so hopefully Nate can do it. Cause the game needs him, I need him," Warren said.

Jadakiss on "Top 5, Dead or Alive" & More

Jada discusses plans for his next album that may include production from Dr. "Dre, Swizz Beatz, DJ Premier, Alchemist, Just Blaze," according to the emcee from Yonkers.

Jadakiss has never been shy about wanting to be in everybody's top emcees lists. Cementing that is the title for his forthcoming album, Top 5, Dead or Alive, a disc named after one of his more famous lines. In the meantime, he knows he needs to continue leaking music and that's exactly what he plans on doing, releasing a mix tape of old and news record, I Love U, before the year ends. Recently, Jada spoke about all of this with Vibe and added more regarding

For Top 5, Jada said he plans on working with top Hip Hop producers in order to give his album a "1990's" feel.

"I've been searching for a new sound from some hungry, up-and-coming producers. But I'm also looking forward to working with Pharrell again, Dr. Dre, Swizz Beatz, DJ Premier, Alchemist, Just Blaze—you know, the great hip-hop producers. I try to get as much hip-hop as I can onto my albums. I'm trying to give my next one that real 1990s hip-hop feel."

Fellow member Sheek made some people question his Donnie G cover recently, one that featured his face next to that of a gorillas. When asked about this, Jada simply said any publicity helps.

"The cover... yeah, man. I'll tell you: Publicity is publicity. Good, bad—you need some type of movement before your album is about to come out. And Sheek has that right now. You need people to be saying something. But the quality of music is what really matters. That overpowers everything. The cover is the cover and people can say whatever they want about it, but if your body of work is good, you'll be alright."

I Love U should be out in December, according to 'Kiss, while Top 5, Dead or Alive is expected near Memorial Day in 2011.

Swizz Beatz Dicusses DMX's Struggles, Jay-Z Beef

Swizz Beatz gives his take on DMX's personal problems, and dismisses beef with Jigga.

In light of Swizz Beatz' latest "Monster Mondays" release, "Y'all Don't Really Know," featuring DMX and Busta Rhymes, the Ruff Ryder producer sat down with VladTV.com to discuss DMX's highly-publicized struggles.

"X is forever my brother. Whatever he wanna do, I'm with it, as long as it's the right thing," explained Swizzy. "X has been X since day one. It's just that now, people see another side of X that they didn't see before. X been goin' to jail. His first song was 'Born Loser.' He's been in and out of group homes. He's been had this trouble in his life that nobody care about when he wasn't successful. Then he got successful, and some of those elements leaked out. People didn't embrace it - they shouldn't have to embrace it, by the way - I just pray for X a lot, man, because I remember people couldn't even follow-up after his performances. Period."

"At the end of the day, you can't help somebody if they're not willing to help themselves," he added.

Swizz also addressed DMX's recent outburst, where he said "F*** Jay-Z" during a concert in Arizona. "There's no problem with DMX, with Jay. X is gonna address that in a certain way. It's 2010. All that fake beef, and all [those] ignorant tones against each other...I don't get involved in that."

'Ugly Betty' Actor Reveals How and Why He Sliced His Mother's Head With Samurai Sword

Giving detail on his action to his 55-year-old mother Yannick Brea, Michael Brea says, 'I didn't want to kill her right away. I wanted to give her time to get right with God. I was slashing my mom.'

"Ugly Betty" actor Michael Brea has been willing to share specific details on the day he cut off his own mother Yannick Brea's head with samurai sword, insisting that he killed the demon inside her. Talking to New York Daily News in the prison ward at Bellevue Hospital, Michael calmly said, "I didn't kill her. I killed the demon inside her."

When the site informed him that Yannick died over his assault, Michael didn't show any remorse, saying with white-hot intensity and unflinching confidence, "So be it. It was the work of God." The "Step Up 3-D" actor sliced Yannick's head with a 3-foot long samurai sword in their Brooklyn, New York home on Tuesday morning, November 23.

Of the incident, Michael explained, "I was sleeping in my bedroom. God came above my bed and reached his arm to me. I said, 'God, is my time on earth over?' I heard a voice say, 'Yes Michael, today is your last day.' I asked if I could say goodbye to my family." Michael, who donned a light-blue prison jumpsuit and slippers, said that he told no one about his dream.

The following morning, Michael said that he received another sign while at the Prince Hall Masonic Temple in Harlem where he was approached by a man trying to put curse on him. "(He) kept trying to put something in my hand but wouldn't show it to me. I kept opening my hand. It was a Freemason pin. I wouldn't touch it," Michael claimed, adding that he began feeling ill and left.

After the encounter, Michael stated that strangers began speaking to him about his mother. "I felt like Neo from 'The Matrix.' I began hearing voices and feeling powerful. They were asking about the difference between mom and mother. It was a sign," he went on. And once he arrived at the apartment, he recalled, "I knew I would never see my mother again. I gave her lots of love."

After giving his mother a hug, Michel went to his room, lit candles and placed a dagger and a 3-foot ceremonial Freemason sword by his side. Yannick then called him and asked him to go to the kitchen and pour water from a pot in which she was cooking three chickens. "I looked at these chickens lying dead in the pot and a voice told me it was a sacrifice. It was black magic," Michael said.

Instead of doing what his mother told him to, Michael went back to his room, saying that his mother asked him with a different voice. "She had the voice of the demon. I opened the door with the dagger at my side and the sword. I asked, 'Do you believe in God?' She said, 'No, Michael no,' and began screaming. I began slashing her like this," he said, bringing his right hand down.

"I didn't want to kill her right away. I wanted to give her time to get right with God,"
Michael said. And although police had asked to open the door by that time, Michael didn't even worry. "I was slashing my mom and I heard the police knocking on the door yelling, 'Michael, open up, Michael, open up,' but I knew they wouldn't open the door and stop me because the spirits were protecting me. I just kept cutting her. No one could stop me," he added.

"I was doing the work of God. I'm named after a saint myself - Saint Michael. He was protecting the house from the police. They weren't allowed to enter the apartment," Michael said. "I heard voices telling me how powerful I was, saying 'Oh he's good'."

"Kush" Gives Dr. Dre First Solo Chart Appearance Since 2000

The well-timed leak of his new single yields dividends as "Kush" sells 45,000 copies in two days.

On 2000’s “Forgot About Dre,” Dr. Dre rhymed, “Give me one more platinum plaque / and f*** Rap you can have it back.” And although it’s taken him over a decade, the legendary co-founding member of NWA is getting a headstart on that last plaque with his single “Kush.” The song has debuted at the number 48 spot on Billboard magazine’s Hot 100 chart, which ranks the country’s most popular singles based on sales and radio airplay. While Dre was credited as a producer and co-writer on Eminem’s 2009 single, “Crack A Bottle,” the debut of “Kush” marks the first time a Dr. Dre single billed as a solo effort has appeared on the Billboard charts since “The Next Episode.”

After an unmastered version of the collaboration with Snoop Dogg, Akon and newcomer Sly hit blogs and other music sites, Aftermath quickly posted a mixed and mastered version to Dr. Dre’s official site and made the single available for purchase via iTunes on November 18. Despite being released mid-week, the single sold 45,000 copies.

Various reports have stated a video to “Kush” has already been shot, with veteran music video director Joseph Kahn at the helm. While Detox has been delayed by rumored unofficial leaks, Dre maintains his Hip Hop swan song will finally be released in February of 2011.

Nicki Minaj Dreams of Working with Beyoncé

Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé

She’s worked with everyone from Mariah Carey to M.I.A., and now Nicki Minaj has her sights set on her next collaboration.

When asked by UsMagazine.com who her dream collaboration would be, one name came to mind. “Probably just Beyoncé right now,” revealed the Harajuku Barbie. “I’ve worked with just about all my dream collabs, like I’ve worked with Jay-Z and I’ve worked with Kanye and I worked with Rihanna and I’ve worked with Eminem. Those were at the top of my list. Now that I’ve done that, probably the only one on my list that I haven’t worked with that I’m really, really excited about is Beyoncé.”

The “Right Thru Me” rapper said earlier this year that she wanted to write for the pop star. “I think I could come up with some crazy stuff for Beyoncé,” she shared. “I have things that I write for girls, like R&B singers.”

It was Jay-Z who advised Robin Thicke to put Nicki on his “Shakin’ It 4 Daddy” record, so Mr. Carter shouldn’t have a problem convincing his wife to do the same. “Beyoncé, she’s fearless, and I think that she could embody my crazy swag in a female R&B world.”

Lil Kim Fires Back At Nicki Minaj........I’m sick of the fraud / I’ll put hands on this b**ch like Obama’s guards

Lil Kim has been quiet as Nicki Minaj has had disparaging remarks to her rival, but now Kim has returned fire with a new diss song called “Black Friday.”

The song, which has leaked online, has Lil Kim lyrically challenging the now-dominant Nicki Minaj.

On the song, Kim spews, “I’m turning Pink Friday to Friday The 13th.”

“Aight, you Lil Kim clone clown / all this buffoonery s**t stops now / Time for you to lay down / I’m sick of the fraud / I’ll put hands on this b**ch like Obama’s guards,” Kim says. “We all know your last name / what got you your job / You a put together gimmick / something like a collage.”

In the song, she also mentions Nicki Minaj’s Young Money ally Drake. “This his hood sh**t you and Drake ain’t built for. This sh**t the other b**ch almost got killed for…”

The song continuously refers to Nicki Minaj as a copycat artist that has stolen her style, which debuted in the 1990’s.

Nicki Minaj has always mentioned Lil Kim has one of the rapper’s she admired, but recently told Angie Martinez that Kim’s present stance mars her legacy.

"I feel like you're gonna go down in history now as a sore loser, as opposed to going down in history as the queen because if you can't beat 'em, join 'em," Nicki told Martinez. "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all. You don't have to feel the need to put somebody down and make yourself feel better."

The song was debuted on Hot 97 with DJ Absolut and the full song is expected to drop Today, Black Friday. Minaj's Pink Friday was released on  Monday and is expected to sell about 375k - 425k in the first week.

Rihanna: "I Could Be a Mom in a Year From Now"

From the time being, RiRi thinks it's not the right time to have kids since she has very demanding schedule.

Rihanna is beginning to think about starting a family with baseball player boyfriend Matt Kemp, but insists she'd have to put her career on hold to become a mum. The pop star, who debuted her new album "Loud" in the U.S. top five on Wednesday, insists she's not pregnant right now but accepts she could be a first-time mum in a year.

She tells Interview magazine, "It could be a year from now. It could be 10 years from now. Whenever is right. I mean, I have a lot of other stuff to accomplish before I get to kids. Whenever the time is right, I'll just know." And she insists she'll make a great mum - unless her first child is a daughter: "If I had a girl, she'd probably be really rebellious. She would be like a bundle of karma."

Rihanna is also considering where she'd like to raise a family, admitting her dream of returning home to Barbados is a little far fetched. She adds, "I can't live that far away from everything now, without kids, so I certainly couldn't raise kids (there) with the demanding schedule that I have."

DMX Denied Bail, To Spend Thanksgiving Behind Bars

DMX
DMX got some bad news on Wednesday (November 24), he'll be spending his Thanksgiving in jail ... at least, until his next court appearance.

The rapper (real name: Earl Simmons) appeared before an Arizona judge this morning, and was denied bail until at least December 9th, the date of his next appearance in court.

X was arrested on Thursday (November 18) for violating terms of his probation, including drug use (cocaine and Oxycontin), failing to submit to drug testing and counseling, and driving with a suspended license.
When he appeared before the judge Wednesday, he denied the charges.

DMX was placed on probation last year for charges of attempted aggravated assault and using a false identity to avoid paying medical bills. He has a long history of legal trouble in Arizona.

Prior to the arrest, the rapper was attempting a comeback in music. A week ago, he performed at the Venue in Scottsdale, Arizona ... following the release of a new single, titled "Ya'll Don't Know," which recently leaked to the Internet.

X' manager, Nakia Walker, told the Phoenix New Times that the rapper and his team are waiting to see the outcome of his next court date before resuming comeback plans. However, she added that new music is ready to go and will be released early next year.

He is being held in Maricopa County.

Blahzay Blahzay Sues Wyclef Jean For $2 Million Over Sampling "Danger"

Blahzay Blahzay Sues Wyclef Jean For $2 Million Over Sampling

When the east is in the house, lawsuit. A 2007 album by 'Clef reportedly lifted from the '96 classic, and it'll take big money to make it right.

Brooklyn duo Blahzay Blahzay made a Hip Hop classic in 1996's "Danger." The P.F. Cuttin-produced New York anthem featured the sharp cut-in vocals of Jeru The Damaja, Q-Tip and Ol' Dirty Bastard, with an equally popular remix by Gang Starr's DJ Premier.

Now, the duo of P.F. Cuttin and MC Out Loud are suing another east coast emcee/producer for using their own creation. Wyclef Jean sampled "Danger" on his 2007 song "Welcome To The East," from Carnival II: Memoirs of an Immigrant. According to TMZ.com, Blahzay Blahzay is suing for $2,000,000 as they claim that Jean and his management used the song without songwriting credits, and reportedly have ignored previous threats of legal action.

Wyclef Jean has been called out over sampling issues previously. In 2004, legendary producer Diamond D reported that Jean never cleared the Cymande "Dove" sample used on the title track from The Fugees' The Score, forcing the producer to forfeit credit to the credit on the multi-platinum album.

Blahzay Blahzay has not released an album since their debut, Blah, Blah, Blah. Cuttin has since produced for Sean Price, Masta Killa and Thirstin Howl III. Next month, Wyclef Jean is expected to release an EP, If I Were President on Columbia/Sony Records.

Pharrell Says Lupe Fiasco Could be Fourth Member of N*E*R*D

Pharrell Says Lupe Fiasco Could be Fourth Member of N*E*R*D

Pharrell hints at Lupe Fiasco being the fourth member of N.E.R.D. and possibly recording an LP with the group.

In a recent interview with HardKnockTV, N.E.R.D.'s Pharrell talked about the trio's relationship with tour mate and frequent Neptunes collaborator Lupe Fiasco. During the interview, Skateboard P explained that they would be thrilled to work with the Chicago emcee on an extended projected, hinting that such a collaboration may not be too far from the truth.

"We just want to come through with the real attention to detail and nostalgia," he explained. "We want to make real collector's items [of our] albums...Lupe [Fiasco] is our brother, period. If there was...a fourth member of N.E.R.D., it would probably be Lupe. That's not to say that that wouldn't happen, by the way...I'd be honored to do an N.E.R.D. album with Lupe."

Pharrell also explained his philosophy when it comes to working with artists. He said that he likes to allow artists the room to to function autonomously, but that that he also doesn't only provide help to those signed to his Star Trak imprint. He said that like his work with the Clipse - and now, Pusha T in his solo career - he wants to aid artists in creating good music, regardless of ownership.

"Certain times with certain artists, I just let them go and do them, and anyway I can help and assist them I can," he said. "Like the Clipse: they've been on their on for like two albums now, and now Pusha [T]...went solo from the Clipse...[and now] he's over there at G.O.O.D. Music with Kanye [West], so he's doing some interesting things as well and I'm helping him there. I am interested in growing talent; it doesn't always have to be on my farm. I would just like the world to be speckled with good music for everybody to listen to...it's not always about ownership. It's about contributing to the greater scheme of things."

Soulja Boy Addresses Kat Stacks, Cocaine Allegations

Soulja Boy Addresses Kat Stacks, Cocaine Allegations
While he denies her Cocaine allegations, Soulja Boy has some kind words for Kat Stacks as she faces deportation.

Kat Stacks kept Soulja Boy’s name in Internet search engines for all the wrong reasons when she posted a video to the Web alleging the Rap star used cocaine during a weekend fling with her. Now that Hip Hop’s most infamous groupie since Karrine “Superhead” Steffans faces deportation back to her native Venezuela, Soulja Boy has some interesting thoughts.

“It’s sad that she’s getting deported,” Soulja Boy told Angie Ang of Washington D.C.’s WKYS 93.9 FM. “They taking my baby away…don’t want me to see her no more. When you love somebody you don’t argue; you’re gonna have arguments. I meant everything that I said. She’s all of that and more—scum of the Earth. That’s my baby though, man. I love her.”

The allegations led to a short-lived feud with Fabolous, which has since ended. Meanwhile, Kat Stacks was reportedly arrested in Nashville, Tennessee for immigration-related issues. As for Kat’s cocaine allegations against Soulja Boy, the rapper maintained his innocence and looked at the rumors as a positive.

“I ain’t never did coke a day in my life,” he added. “I ain’t never been in a rehab center a day in my life. Shouts out to the blogs making up stories on me. But at the end of the day it’s publicity. I got an album coming out November 30. Say whatever you want to say, because I know what’s true. I sold 22 off ‘Crank Dat,’ 10 million off ‘Turn My Swag On,’ 10 million off ‘Kiss Me Thru The Phone.’ Three years later I’m chillin, and they hating me. I ain’t never did no coke. I just hopped off a plane. I was talking to Wall Street Journal!”

Quincy Jones Dismisses Kanye West Comparison

Quincy Jones Dismisses Kanye West Comparison

Quincy says Kanye is "just a rapper" and there is "no comparison" to him

In an interview with Us Magazine legendary producer Quincy Jones brushed off a Kanye West comparison they made. After the interviewer said "Kanye West is similar to you in that he's the producer everybody wants to work with in the last decade...." before Quincy cut them off.

"How man? No way. Did he write for a symphony orchestra? Does he write for a jazz orchestra? Come on, man. He's just a rapper. There's no comparison. I'm not putting him down or making a judgement or anything, but we come from two different sides of the planet. I spent 28 years learning my first skill. I don't rap. It's not the same thing. A producer has to have some sort of skills that enable him to be a producer. It's totally different to know what to do with 16 woodwinds you know from piccolos down to bass clarinet. It's a whole different mindset. No comparison. None."

When pressed what he thinks about West, he didn't offer up much. "I don't think about him much. He's a great rapper, but there are a lot of good rappers. I just did The View with Ludacris, who's one of my favorites. He's a beautiful human being and college educated. I joke with him and say, 'How did 'Move Bitch
Get Out The Way' come out of you?' But I was raised around the Mafia when I was a kid in Chicago in the 30s. Chicago's rough. I'm from the streets, I know what's up!"
