Fat Joe Questions To Future Of "Darkside" Series, Volume 2 May Be Mixtape

Fat Joe Questions To Future Of
Joe Crack tells Global Grind that his next album isn't a "Darkside" after winning over critics, but getting dwarfed on the charts.

Although this year's album from Fat Joe, The Darkside, Vol. 1 was met with critical praise, the album was far from a commercial success. The Bronx, New York veteran's latest album reunited him with longtime collaborator DJ Premier, as well as hard-edged sounds from Just Blaze and Scram Jones. After Joe's first outing with E1 Entertainment garnered a #27 debut, Joe may stray from the planned trilogy of hardcore Hip Hop, returning to more mainstream appeal.

"I’m working on a new album now, but it’s not even a Darkside album, it’s a lifestyle album," Fat Joe recently told Globalgrind. "We gonna do Darkside 2 and maybe the lifestyle will be put out together, Darkside 2 as a mixtape, and the other album, lets not just called it a lifestyle album, will consist of all types of music. Not just underground, hardcore, but everything."

The Darkside, Vol. 1 was supported by radio hit "(Ha Ha) Slow Down" with Young Jeezy.
