Jazmine Sullivan to Take a Break from Music?

Jazmine Sullivan

Jazmine Sullivan recently released her sophomore album Love Me Back, but now she may be throwing in the towel. Last night, the Philly soulstress took to her Twitter account to announce that she was retiring from the music industry, later deleting her tweets, but the shockwaves are still being felt.

“i’m making an official announcement that i am taking a break from music. i’m trying to figure out who i am… w/out a mike, paper or pen,” tweeted the 23-year-old. “i promised myself that when it wasn’t fun anymore i wouldn’t do it. and here i am. i’m not saying i wont ever sing again in my life becuz i dont believe that. but in this moment… rt now… i got some things to figure out.”

Before removing the tweets, she also thanked her fans for their unwavering support and helping her boost her confidence as a performer. “i love you all and appreciate u soooooo much. u have no idea how much u’ve inspired me and fed my ego. but the truth is that i have to believe in me whether you all do or not. and thats what i’m lookin for. that belief in myself. me. I. i love us. thanks for being here for me and riding with me on this journey. let us continue.”

She returned to Twitter today after her worried followers expressed their concern. “i’m fine everyone. just switching things up a bit till i get it right,” she assured them. “now kanye… thats who we should have a prayer circle for. lolol.”

The R&B powerhouse’s critically-acclaimed second album was released at the end of November, bowing at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 with 57,000 copies in its first week.
