Erykah Badu Collaborating With Flying Lotus

The Cali beat maker producing tracks for the eccentric soulstress.

Pitchfork.com is reporting that Flying Lotus is currently working with Erykah Badu. The announcement came at a Flying Lotus show over the weekend. From the stage the Warp Records artist announced that he had spent the previous night working on tracks with Badu.

The two forward thinking musicians have actually collaborated previously, but not in a purely musical capacity. This past January Badu released the Flying Lotus directed video for “Gone Baby, Don’t Be Long", one of the standout tracks from last year’s wonderful New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh).

Not only does that previous working history make their current musical collaboration unsurprising, Badu’s history of musical partners also makes this team-up seem almost predestined. The singer has previously commissioned beats from 9^th Wonder, J Dilla, Madlib, and Sa-Ra Creative Partners, among others.
