Ev also reveals that he personally produced a few tracks on the album, which will drop in late summer.
Evidence has taken a minute to drop his new album Cats & Dogs, but he promises it will land in stores by the end of summer. The Rhymesayers recording artist recently revealed that the album is finished and that in addition to producing a few cuts of his own, he has two tracks touting production from DJ Premier.
“Release date is really close and I have an album that’s done that I’m really proud of. It’s just I’ll know in a couple of days,” Ev told Parker Report’s Mr. Peter Parker. “The album’s done. I have two tracks from DJ Premier. That should be enough information.”
As for the album’s delay, he explained that it wasn’t a dry spell that kept him from putting out the follow-up to 2008’s The Layover EP. “The music wasn’t really the cause for delay. It was some personal shit in my life, and as a man, it could happen to anybody,” he continued. “The fact that I’m smiling and that I came out clean on the other end is a beautiful fucking thing and I can’t wait to see y’all.”
Ev said that the album will be a "monster." "In the process, I learned a lot of things about myself this year and I made a monster record, I feel. It’s going to drop right on time, dropping at the end of summer. I’m going to do some big shows with Atmosphere, Rock the Bells and a couple things after that, which I’ll be announcing soon.”
