'The Wire' Actress Felicia ''Snoop'' Pearson Pleads Guilty To Role In Heroin Distribution Ring

Actress Felicia "Snoop" Pearson, known for her role on the HBO crime drama "The Wire," pleaded guilty to drug conspiracy charges in a Baltimore courtroom Monday, The Baltimore Sun reported.

Pearson, 31, was sentenced to seven years in prison -- with the entire sentence suspended except for the five months she served on house arrest while awaiting trial -- and three years of supervised probation.
Pearson was arrested in March for allegedly bankrolling a large-scale heroin operation. More than 60 other people were also charged after a massive drug raid organized by federal and state authorities.
Actress Felicia 'Snoop' Pearson, known for her role on the HBO crime drama 'The Wire,' pleaded guilty to drug conspiracy charges in a Baltimore courtroom Monday.

She pleaded not guilty to the charges in May. After Monday's hearing, she said she would have been found not guilty if the case had gone to trial, but she chose to plead guilty so she could "move forward" with her life.

Her trial was scheduled to begin Tuesday.

Pearson's defense attorney, Benjamin Sutley, downplayed her involvement in the drug operation, saying she was "picking at the edges" of the conspiracy.

Pearson has discussed her troubled childhood working as a drug dealer while both her parents served time behind bars.

She spent nearly seven years in prison after she was convicted of murder at age 14 in the shooting death of a teenage friend.

She joined the Baltimore-based HBO series after meeting a cast member at a local club. In the series, she played an assassin for a vicious drug crew.

Outside the Circuit Court, Pearson declared to reporters, "I would have been found not guilty." She added, "I'm moving to L.A."
