Fred Hampton Jr. Reacts To Jay-Z Lyric
Despite the positive reception of The Throne’s “Murder To Excellence” not everyone is pleased with the track. Fred Hampton Jr, son of slain Black Panther Fred Hampton, expressed his frustration with Jay-Z’s lyric, “I arrived on the day Fred Hampton died”. Coincidentally, Hov was born on the same day. While on a panel at the University of Chicago this past weekend, he had this to say:
“Fred Hampton didn’t die,” Hampton Jr. said. “He was assassinated. Saying Fred Hampton died is like the school teacher telling students that Christopher Columbus discovered America.” He later went on to refer to Jay-Z as Slave-Z, questioning his motives on the record.
