Legendary soul singer Bobby Womack has been diagnosed with colon cancer according to Bootsy Collins.
"I just spoke to our friend Bobby Womack. He wanted you all to know that he loves you and thanks for the prayers. Doctor says he is in the first stage of colon cancer, he is very upbeat about his future, we laughed & joked before we hung up. Thanks funkateers, we will get him back on the one!" Collins wrote on Twitter Sunday [March 25].
Womack has a vast catalog of soul hits. G-Unit fans will know him from 50 Cent'srecord "Wait Until Tonight" from The Big 10, which samples Bobby's hit "If You think You're Lonely Now."
NME is reporting that the 68-year old singer was initially hospitalized with pneumonia and was then later diagnosed with colon cancer.
We wish Bobby the best and hope he recovers well.
