Kendrick Lamar's 'Good Kid, M.A.A.D City' Album Goes Platinum With A Boost From His 'Control' Verse

Kendrick Lamar's verse on Big Sean's song "Control" not only fired up fellow rappers, fans and critics, it also boosted sales of his Good Kid, M.A.A.D City album.

The disc sold 9,000 copies last week, propelling it back into the top 40 albums. It leap-frogged from the No. 52 spot up to No. 36, according to HipHopDX, citing Nielsen Soundscan statistics.

The boost pushed the album over the 1 million mark in sales. It had previously been certified platinum in June by the Recording Industry of America (RIAA) for 1 million units shipped.

Definitely great news for K. Dot, Top Dawg Entertainment and Aftermath
