Revolt Presents: 'Wale: I Am From' Documentary Trailer

Washington Post writes:

Last spring, Wale was a rapper setting big goals in a fog of stress. He wanted his forthcoming third album, “The Gifted,” to top the charts. (It did.) He wanted to headline the Verizon Center. (Not yet.) There were some non-career goals, too — he wanted to take a long-deferred trip to Africa.

So in November, the Washington-raised rap star finally trekked to Nigeria, the country his parents left for the U.S. in 1979. There, he connected with family members he’d never met and fans he never knew he had. Revolt, the music network launched by Sean “Diddy” Combs last October, sent a crew along to film the trip and they returned with “Wale: I Am From,” the network’s first documentary special.

“The whole idea of the trip was for me to find some peace within my family and bring peace to my family,” the 29-year-old rapper says in the trailer. But, “sometimes business can get in the way.”

“Wale: I Am From” premieres on Monday, Jan. 20 at 10 p.m. on Revolt and will be followed by a live Ustream with Wale at 11 p.m.
