Wu Tang Clan To Sell Only 1 Copy Of Secretly Recorded 'Once Upon A Time In Shaolin' Album For Over $1 Million

The good news for Wu Tang Clan fans is that the group will release 2 albums in 2014. The first is their 20th anniversary disc entitled A Better Tomorrow. The second project is a special double disc called The Wu - Once Upon A Time In Shaolin.

The bad news is that only one lucky, and very rich Wu Tang Clan fan will own a copy of Once Upon A Time. The album was recorded in secret and will come in an engraved silver-and-nickel box.

Like a fine piece of art, the album will tour the world in exhibits, galleries and possibly music festivals. The cost to attend a listening session at one of the stops will cost between $30-$50. Those in attendance will have to go through a screening process to ensure no recording devices are smuggled in. They will also be required to listen to the entire project on headphones provided by the venue.

“One leak of this thing nullifies the entire concept," the album’s main producer, Tarik “Cilvaringz” Azzougarh, told Forbes.

Once the tour is finished the album will be sold. The cost will be "in the millions," according to Forbes.

“We’re about to sell an album like nobody else sold it before,” RZA told Forbes. “We’re about to put out a piece of art like nobody else has done in the history of [modern] music. We’re making a single-sale collector’s item. This is like somebody having the scepter of an Egyptian king.”
