Jadakiss on "Top 5, Dead or Alive" & More

Jada discusses plans for his next album that may include production from Dr. "Dre, Swizz Beatz, DJ Premier, Alchemist, Just Blaze," according to the emcee from Yonkers.

Jadakiss has never been shy about wanting to be in everybody's top emcees lists. Cementing that is the title for his forthcoming album, Top 5, Dead or Alive, a disc named after one of his more famous lines. In the meantime, he knows he needs to continue leaking music and that's exactly what he plans on doing, releasing a mix tape of old and news record, I Love U, before the year ends. Recently, Jada spoke about all of this with Vibe and added more regarding

For Top 5, Jada said he plans on working with top Hip Hop producers in order to give his album a "1990's" feel.

"I've been searching for a new sound from some hungry, up-and-coming producers. But I'm also looking forward to working with Pharrell again, Dr. Dre, Swizz Beatz, DJ Premier, Alchemist, Just Blaze—you know, the great hip-hop producers. I try to get as much hip-hop as I can onto my albums. I'm trying to give my next one that real 1990s hip-hop feel."

Fellow member Sheek made some people question his Donnie G cover recently, one that featured his face next to that of a gorillas. When asked about this, Jada simply said any publicity helps.

"The cover... yeah, man. I'll tell you: Publicity is publicity. Good, bad—you need some type of movement before your album is about to come out. And Sheek has that right now. You need people to be saying something. But the quality of music is what really matters. That overpowers everything. The cover is the cover and people can say whatever they want about it, but if your body of work is good, you'll be alright."

I Love U should be out in December, according to 'Kiss, while Top 5, Dead or Alive is expected near Memorial Day in 2011.

One day sales figures indicate Yeezy's fifth album should sell between 525,000 and 575,000. That would top 808's And Heartbreak, which sold 450,000 in week one, but fall short of Graduation's massive 957,000 in 2007.

Kanye's LP is also occupying the number one and number four spots on iTunes, the deluxe edition being the top seller, and the regular version down a few spots.

Nicki Minaj's debut won't move quite as well, but is still expected to sell an impressive 375,000 to 425,000 units. Pink Friday is also selling well digitally, coming in at number eight on the iTunes top ten.

Swizz Beatz Dicusses DMX's Struggles, Jay-Z Beef

Swizz Beatz gives his take on DMX's personal problems, and dismisses beef with Jigga.

In light of Swizz Beatz' latest "Monster Mondays" release, "Y'all Don't Really Know," featuring DMX and Busta Rhymes, the Ruff Ryder producer sat down with VladTV.com to discuss DMX's highly-publicized struggles.

"X is forever my brother. Whatever he wanna do, I'm with it, as long as it's the right thing," explained Swizzy. "X has been X since day one. It's just that now, people see another side of X that they didn't see before. X been goin' to jail. His first song was 'Born Loser.' He's been in and out of group homes. He's been had this trouble in his life that nobody care about when he wasn't successful. Then he got successful, and some of those elements leaked out. People didn't embrace it - they shouldn't have to embrace it, by the way - I just pray for X a lot, man, because I remember people couldn't even follow-up after his performances. Period."

"At the end of the day, you can't help somebody if they're not willing to help themselves," he added.

Swizz also addressed DMX's recent outburst, where he said "F*** Jay-Z" during a concert in Arizona. "There's no problem with DMX, with Jay. X is gonna address that in a certain way. It's 2010. All that fake beef, and all [those] ignorant tones against each other...I don't get involved in that."

'Ugly Betty' Actor Reveals How and Why He Sliced His Mother's Head With Samurai Sword

Giving detail on his action to his 55-year-old mother Yannick Brea, Michael Brea says, 'I didn't want to kill her right away. I wanted to give her time to get right with God. I was slashing my mom.'

"Ugly Betty" actor Michael Brea has been willing to share specific details on the day he cut off his own mother Yannick Brea's head with samurai sword, insisting that he killed the demon inside her. Talking to New York Daily News in the prison ward at Bellevue Hospital, Michael calmly said, "I didn't kill her. I killed the demon inside her."

When the site informed him that Yannick died over his assault, Michael didn't show any remorse, saying with white-hot intensity and unflinching confidence, "So be it. It was the work of God." The "Step Up 3-D" actor sliced Yannick's head with a 3-foot long samurai sword in their Brooklyn, New York home on Tuesday morning, November 23.

Of the incident, Michael explained, "I was sleeping in my bedroom. God came above my bed and reached his arm to me. I said, 'God, is my time on earth over?' I heard a voice say, 'Yes Michael, today is your last day.' I asked if I could say goodbye to my family." Michael, who donned a light-blue prison jumpsuit and slippers, said that he told no one about his dream.

The following morning, Michael said that he received another sign while at the Prince Hall Masonic Temple in Harlem where he was approached by a man trying to put curse on him. "(He) kept trying to put something in my hand but wouldn't show it to me. I kept opening my hand. It was a Freemason pin. I wouldn't touch it," Michael claimed, adding that he began feeling ill and left.

After the encounter, Michael stated that strangers began speaking to him about his mother. "I felt like Neo from 'The Matrix.' I began hearing voices and feeling powerful. They were asking about the difference between mom and mother. It was a sign," he went on. And once he arrived at the apartment, he recalled, "I knew I would never see my mother again. I gave her lots of love."

After giving his mother a hug, Michel went to his room, lit candles and placed a dagger and a 3-foot ceremonial Freemason sword by his side. Yannick then called him and asked him to go to the kitchen and pour water from a pot in which she was cooking three chickens. "I looked at these chickens lying dead in the pot and a voice told me it was a sacrifice. It was black magic," Michael said.

Instead of doing what his mother told him to, Michael went back to his room, saying that his mother asked him with a different voice. "She had the voice of the demon. I opened the door with the dagger at my side and the sword. I asked, 'Do you believe in God?' She said, 'No, Michael no,' and began screaming. I began slashing her like this," he said, bringing his right hand down.

"I didn't want to kill her right away. I wanted to give her time to get right with God,"
Michael said. And although police had asked to open the door by that time, Michael didn't even worry. "I was slashing my mom and I heard the police knocking on the door yelling, 'Michael, open up, Michael, open up,' but I knew they wouldn't open the door and stop me because the spirits were protecting me. I just kept cutting her. No one could stop me," he added.

"I was doing the work of God. I'm named after a saint myself - Saint Michael. He was protecting the house from the police. They weren't allowed to enter the apartment," Michael said. "I heard voices telling me how powerful I was, saying 'Oh he's good'."

"Kush" Gives Dr. Dre First Solo Chart Appearance Since 2000

The well-timed leak of his new single yields dividends as "Kush" sells 45,000 copies in two days.

On 2000’s “Forgot About Dre,” Dr. Dre rhymed, “Give me one more platinum plaque / and f*** Rap you can have it back.” And although it’s taken him over a decade, the legendary co-founding member of NWA is getting a headstart on that last plaque with his single “Kush.” The song has debuted at the number 48 spot on Billboard magazine’s Hot 100 chart, which ranks the country’s most popular singles based on sales and radio airplay. While Dre was credited as a producer and co-writer on Eminem’s 2009 single, “Crack A Bottle,” the debut of “Kush” marks the first time a Dr. Dre single billed as a solo effort has appeared on the Billboard charts since “The Next Episode.”

After an unmastered version of the collaboration with Snoop Dogg, Akon and newcomer Sly hit blogs and other music sites, Aftermath quickly posted a mixed and mastered version to Dr. Dre’s official site and made the single available for purchase via iTunes on November 18. Despite being released mid-week, the single sold 45,000 copies.

Various reports have stated a video to “Kush” has already been shot, with veteran music video director Joseph Kahn at the helm. While Detox has been delayed by rumored unofficial leaks, Dre maintains his Hip Hop swan song will finally be released in February of 2011.
