The Roots Wise Up Ghost Release Date
After announcing the collaborative LP in January, The Roots and Rock singer-songwriter Elvis Costello have revealed that September 7 will be the release date of Wise Up Ghost. The band is also planning to release their own solo effort & Then You Shoot Your Cousin this year.

Large Professor Says Nas Watered Down “Ether” Lyrics [VIDEO]
In the final portion of a three-part interview with The Combat Jack Show, former Main Source front man Large Professor revealed that Nas held back on his lyrical assault on Jay-Z, “Ether.”
Jay came out swinging with the Kanye West-produced “Takeover” diss track in 2001, and many thought Nas' (and Prodigy of Mobb Deep) would never recover. Nas gamely responded with “Ether” amid still-ongoing debates over which rapper triumphed.
Sitting behind the scenes in the sessions, Extra P said that Nas initially went harder on an early draft of the song, but decided on a different route.
“The first beat he wrote to was a Swizz Beatz beat and it was a lot more energy, and a lot more hype,” said Large Pro. “What Nas did, he took the whole situation to the hill in Queensbridge. And if you ever go to Queensbridge on the hill, what they do is everyone stands around and they just snap [crack jokes] on each other.”
Large Professor added that Nas “watered down” the lyrics, saying that he “really took him to the hill” in the earlier version. Although he sided with his fellow Queens native in the clash, Large Pro admitted that he enjoyed “Takeover” as well.

2Pac Was To Play Sharif In Menace II Society, Not O-Dog [VIDEO]
Directors Allen and Albert Hughes' polarizing 1993 classic Menace II Society saw it's 20th anniversary last week. Tyrin Turner, better known as "Caine," sat down with Sway and rapper Consequence on this week's installment of MTV Rap Fix to discuss the film's effect on culture overall.
Turner admits that he didn't foresee the impact the film would ultimately have. "What's funny is that I auditioned for Boyz n the Hood first," he revealed.
Being turned down for the role of Cuba Gooding Jr.'s Tre Styles ultimately led to him receiving a call from the Hughes brothers to play Caine.
Sway also asked about the atmosphere on set, which he undoubtedly based on the stories surrounding Tupac Shakur's infamous departure from the cast.
"I remember when we first was doing it with Tupac, when he was supposed to be Sharif," Turner said. "A lot of people thought that he was supposed to be Caine or O-Dog, but that was never the case."
According to Turner, the Death Row rapper complained that there wasn't enough of him in the character. As most will recall, this sparked a dispute with the directors that got him axed from the staff and later escalated into a physical altercation.
After watching the interview, it's hard to believe that Caine and O-Dog were introduced to the world so long ago.
Nevertheless, Menace II Society has rightfully surpassed the "hood classic" grouping and may very well be the most accurate depiction of life in Los Angeles in the early 90s.

Miguel Rumored To Get Sued For Landing On Woman's Head
Last week at the Billboard Music Awards Miguel literally believed he could fly and landed right on an audience member's head. Well that head was owned by Khyati Shah and now she is contemplating on whether to take legal action.
Vip Bhola, Shah's lawyer, told E! News that a concrete answer will be made soon on whether his client will go further with a lawsuit. He added that Shah has been suffering "difficulties" since the incident.
Miguel's representatives has yet to respond but Bhola did offer to make a settlement with the singer.

Harlem Woman Says She Got Herpes From Rihanna's Lipstick!
After going to a Rihanna concert in Brooklyn that promoted the singer's new MAC lipstick line, a Harlem woman says she contracted herpes.
Starkeema Greenidge, 28, claims she came in contact with the virus when a MAC Cosmetic representative applied the RiRi Woo lipstick sample right on the kisser.
Greenidge claims she wasn't able to go to work for a couple of weeks and that it was a major burden on her pockets.
Due to her alleged suffering, the accuser and waitress is smacking MAC in the face with a suit in Manhattan Supreme Court. Beside getting revenge, Greenidge hopes this will prevent a situation like this from happening again.
Police Dash Cam Footage Of Chief Keef's Arrest In Illinois Released [Video]
Northfield, Illinois police have released dash cam footage showing Chief Keef speeding and his subsequent arrest on Monday, May 27th.
As previously reported, cops clocked the 17-year old driving 110 mph in a 55 mph zone on the Edens Expressway. Keef, real name Keith Cozart, tells police he has $8000 in cash on him when asked how much money he has.
The rapper was taken into custody and charged with two misdemeanors: excessive speeding and unlawful number of passengers. His driving permit allows him to have one passenger. He had three in his vehicle at the time he was stopped.

He went old school and chose to start out with just a pen and paper. He credits a book entitled The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron for his influence in that decision. The book got a hold of him a year into the making of Born Sinner.
Cameron's book suggests to write three pages free hand of the first thing you think of right when you get up in the morning. That technique made J. Cole realize that he likes the "writing stuff down" method way better.
Additionally, he made comparisons to this project and Cole World while explaining how good and evil are repetitious themes throughout his career.

Chief Keef Arrested For 2nd Time In A Week After Speeding Past Police Going 110 In 55 MPH Zone
Chief Keef is in trouble with the law again. Police say the 17-year old was spotted in Northfield, Illinois at 3:45 a.m. Monday morning going 110 mph in his 2011 BMW X6 M.
"He was clocked at 110 in a 55 mph zone," Northfield Deputy Chief Claude Casaletto told the Chicago Tribune. "The officers typically sit off on the shoulder and wait for speeders. He came up as a high number."
Keef, real name Keith Cozart, had three other passengers in the car with him at the time he was stopped. The teen's driving permit only allows him to have one according to TMZ.
The rapper was arrested, while one of the passengers was allowed to drive the vehicle home. Keef is due back in court on June 17th.
This is the second time in 7 days he's been taken into police custody. He was arrested for disorderly conduct last Monday near Atlanta after a security guard reported the smell of marijuana coming from his hotel room.

Ex-Pro Football Players Keyshawn Johnson & Eric Dickerson Heated At Justin Bieber. Johnson Chases Singer Down Over His Speeding Through Neighborhood In Ferrari
Justin Bieber has gotten on the bad side of ex NFL players Keyshawn Johnson, Eric Dickerson and several other neighbours in recent days.
Johnson got so angry at the singer's reckless driving in their gated Calabasas, California neighborhood on Monday night he chased after him to confront him.
According to TMZ, Keyshawn was leaving a party on Memorial Day when Bieber zoomed by in his white Ferrari. Johnson felt like Bieber's reckless driving could have killed someone so he took his kid home, then took off after the singer in his Prius.
Johnson blocked Bieber's Ferrari in his driveway and got out to confront him, but Bieber ran inside of his house and refused to come out.
Eric Dickerson recently tweeted about Justin's speeding.
"Two witnesses called us and claimed he was driving a white Ferrari at high speed," said sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore. "We took a report."
So far Bieber has refused to speak with police on the advice of his attorney. Investigators were preparing a report that could result in Bieber's prosecution on misdemeanor reckless driving, Whitmore said.

Chris Tucker Pays $1 Million On His Taxes So Far, But The IRS Says He Still Owes Over $11.5 Million More!
Details Inside Comedian Chris Tucker is finally getting serious about paying off his enormous $12 million tax debt ... so much so the actor cut a check (okay, two checks) for almost $1 MILLION. The "Rush Hour" star is knee deep in tax problems.
The IRS says he owes over $11.5 million in unpaid taxes from a slew of years. Plus, the state of Georgia says he owes $590,000 from 2007. All totaled, he owes over $12 million. CT took the hint to cough up some cash and paid off the GA state tax lien ... PLUS another GA tax lien no one even knew he had. The breakdown:
1. $592,594.82 for 2007 -- PAID
2. $392,332.16 for 2006 -- PAID
All in all, "The Silver Linings" star dropped $985.028.98 chipping away at those pesky tax bills.

Omarion Sued By Fans, "It's Omarion Fault We Got Our Asses Kicked" No Security!!
Omarion is being sued by two male fans who got their asses kicked by random thugs at an O show ... and claim the singer's to blame 'cause he didn't provide the "tight security" he advertised. Brunel Jordonne and Kenson Sainvilus filed the lawsuit against Omarion and Ole Bar & Grill in Newburgh, NY, claiming they attended O's concert on September 21 ... and a bunch of fights broke out.
According to the lawsuit, club security tried to defuse the situation by pushing everyone out to the parking lot, but the two men wanted to stay at their VIP table ... where they felt safe. Jordonne and Sainvilus claim security forced them outside anyway -- where the two men were then attacked by a group of strangers for no reason ... and things got crazy.
According to the docs, Sainvilus was punched in the head several times and security even maced him as he tried to escape the parking lot fight. Meanwhile, Jordonne claims he was kicked in the head and had to be airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Sainvilus says he was also hospitalized.
The irony -- the men claim Omarion advertised "tight security" on his concert poster ... and now believe he miserably failed to live up to that promise. They're now suing for unspecified damages. Calls to Omarion's camp have not been returned.

Styles P Says Hip Hop Needs More Competitiveness "How The F*ck Is Everybody Just Friends?" Speaks On Past Beefs With 50 Cent & Beanie Sigel [Video]
Styles P of The Lox thinks hip hop has becomes less competitive and gotten away from being gritty. He recently sat down with Vlad TV to explain what he means.
"I think the beef nowadays...I don't consider it beef," Styles said. "First of all hip hop should be competitive. All this friendliness sh*t, I'm not against it. But how the f*ck is everybody just friends and cool with each other? You know people you cool [with], you salute them, you respect what they do, but you have to have that edge of competitiveness. I always feel competitive as an emcee. You might be cool with me or whatever, but I wanna burn you on a track if we're on a track together. That's the nature of emceeing."
Styles recalls being on Bad Boy Records during the 2Pac and Biggie Smalls beef and thinks it was a shame both artists lost their lives. However, he would still handle his business in the streets if need be. He also speaks on his past beefs with 50 Cent and Beanie Sigel.
