Anita Baker Sued For Unpaid Debt, Owes More Than $475,000 in Federal Taxes

Legendary R&B songstress Anita Baker is being sued for an unpaid debt by her house painters.

According to published reports, Ray A. Smith Painting and Decorating claims that Ms. Baker owes them $15,000 for work done in her Grosse Pointe, Michigan home.

In court documents filed in a Wayne County Circuit Court, the lawsuit states that Baker has reneged on promises to pay for work that included painting in her son's bedroom, replacing a rotten door sill, and removing water-damaged plaster in her living room.

Although Ms. Baker has yet to comment on the incident, upon further investigation into the matter it was discovered that Baker faces several financial debt obligations, including liens for $465,733 in unpaid federal taxes, $15,952 in unpaid state taxes and $3,470 owed to a window company.

Anita Baker plans to release her 7th studio album in November titled, 21st Century of Love.
