DMC Reignites Acting Career In "Hard Luck" Gangster Flick

'Diamond' Dallas Page and Darryl McDaniels (of Run-DMC) Star in a Local Film

Hip-Hop's "King of Rock," DMC will be starring  in a new short film entitled Hard Luck

Darryl McDaniels, one-third of the legendary group Run-DMC, will star as a crime boss.  The film will also co-star  former wrestling great, Diamond Dallas Page.

DMC didn't simply land the role, the film's producer David Gere had a conversation with him about his desire to break into acting while they were hanging out.

Gere told the Hartford Advocate he called the movie's writer and director Kurtis Spieler with the concept to do an urban noir gangster film and got him on board after speaking with D.

Diamond Dallas Page isn't a stranger to the camera nor is he unfamiliar with rap stars. In 2007, he received an out of court settlement from a dispute with Jay-Z over his "Diamond Cutter" trademarked hand-gesture that he claimed Hov used for profit.

Hard Luck began shooting in Connecticut this month and it will be promoted at different festivals this year, including South By Southwest, Tribeca and The Sundance Film Festival.
