Game talks about "Soft Rhodes," the Dr. Dre-produced mixtape joint featuring Ashanti. He also talks about how he went from dissing her on "Higher" to working together now.
In a new interview with Complex.com, Game spoke about "Soft Rhodes," the Ashanti-assisted song on Purp & Patron's disc two . "The whole version didn’t leak, so that’s why I threw the [Dr.] Dre joints out because they had already leaked," said Game about the song recorded in July. Game also spoke about the choice to have Ashanti on the song, who was formerly signed to Murder Inc., a foe of 50 Cent and G-Unit at a time when Eminem, Dr. Dre and Game were also involved in the war on words. "[In terms of having a song with Ashanti], I don’t think she was riding with anything. She separated herself from the beef if anything."
Interestingly enough, Game did not leave the Long Island, New York singer out of his line of fire. On 2005 hit single "Higher," Game rapped "And I'll do anything but I won't fuck Mariah / Even if she had Ashanti butt naked in bed / 'Cause she got a forehead just like Tyra."
Despite past words, Dr. Dre initiated the symbol of truce. According to Game, "Dre called me and was like, 'You ever work with Ashanti?' and I was like, 'Nah.' He was like, 'Are you opposed to it?' And I said, 'Nope.' So we did it."
