Big Sean Champions Chris Brown’s Comeback

Big Sean and Chris Brown

Big Sean may have nabbed Chris Brown for a high-profile feature on “My Last,” but he didn’t have to pull too many strings to make it happen. In fact, the collaboration, the lead single off his upcoming debut Finally Famous, was all Breezy’s doing. The G.O.O.D. Music rapper recalls meeting the R&B star after he showed up backstage at one of his shows and a friendship soon blossomed.

“It’s crazy because he just came to one of my shows randomly one time, and I was like, ‘What the hell is Chris Brown doing here?’” Sean said. “He came up and was talking to me like, ‘Yo, what’s up fam! I fuck with your music heavy. I’m down to work, let’s work.’ I’m like, damn, that’s cold that somebody on that level of success that’s been doing it for a while would come fuck with somebody like me who’s a new artist.”

The pair immediately hit the studio where they recorded “My Last” as well as four or five other songs, several of which ended up on Breezy’s In My Zone 2 mixtape as well as “Paper, Scissors, Rock,” included on his upcoming fourth album F.A.M.E. While the two have put in work together over the past year, they have become fast friends outside of the music industry.

“We ended up just becoming some really good homies, and that’s one of my homies in this industry, one of the few I have,” Sean explained.

And while Chris has faced career setbacks since his domestic violence incident with Rihanna in early 2009, Kanye’s protégé thinks he’s well on his way to redemption. “I definitely think he’s coming back. He works harder than a lot of people I know, period,” he continued. “I think he’s going to do down as one of the greatest entertainers of all time, by far. I’m pretty sure he is. Yeah, I think if that’s what you want to call it, a comeback. He’s a human being, man. He does what he does and he’s my homie, so I’m really proud of him.”
