The jury in the James "Jimmy Henchman" Rosemond murder trial could not come to a final verdict, therefore it ended in a mistrial.
U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon announced on Friday (March 7) that the jury deadlocked. The trial officially commenced on February 10th.
Rosemond and codefendant Rodney Johnson are accused of setting up the murder of G-Unit associate Lowell "Lodi Mack" Fletcher in 2009. It is alleged that this was payback for Fletcher assaulting Rosemond's son in broad daylight in the streets of Manhattan.
The three week trial revealed a full fledged street war between both G-Unit and Czar Entertainment camps. According to former Hechman cohorts turned government witnesses, there was a long history of violent altercations including the shooting of Tony Yayo's Bentley automobile, the shooting of Violator Management offices, a scuffle between Rosemond and 50 Cent's then manager Chris Lighty and the slashing of Lighty's brother.
Rosemond's defense attorney J. Bruce Maffeo issued a statement to XXL. "Hung jury on all counts as to both defendants, both sides need some time to reevaluate their options although this was the government's case to lose."
While he avoids a guilty charge in this case the government can retry him again on the same charges. Regardless of any future outcomes he will still serve the rest of his natural life in jail for separate cocaine trafficking charges.
