Welcome Home! Lil Boosie Released From Prison

Lil Boosie was released from Angola State Prison in Louisiana at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday night (March 5), according to Baton Rouge TV station WAFB.

Boosie, real name Torrance Hatch, has been locked up since 2009 for violating his probation after being caught with weed. He pleaded guilty to a third-offense marijuana possession charge and was sentenced to two years.

In 2011 the rapper received an additional eight year sentence after pleading guilty to conspiring to smuggle codeine, marijuana and ecstasy into two separate prisons, Angola and Dixon Correctional Institute in Jackson, Louisiana.

Boosie also faced a 1st degree murder charge. In 2012 he went to trial for allegedly paying $2,800 to Michael "Marlo Mike" Louding to kill Terry Boyd on October 20th, 2009, but a jury found him not guilty.

After his release the rapper was transferred to a sheriff's department facility in St. Francisville where family members were waiting for him. He will remain on parole until 2018.

Boosie earned his GED and reportedly wrote at least 500 songs while he was away. A press conference arranged by Atlantic Records has been scheduled for Monday (March 10).
