Mystikal was released from prison on January 14, 2010. In November of 2011 he signed a record deal with Cash Money. He has yet to release an album since that point and believes it's time he goes in a different direction.
"It's a lotta, lotta, lotta politics because I don't really fit the mold of the [label] situation I'm in," he told Rap-Up TV. “I’m different, man. I have to be able to be the artist that I am. If I can’t do that, then it’s not gonna work for me."
Busta Rhymes recently departed Baby's label. Mystikal said that it's possible the two will collaborate soon.
“Me and Busta been talking too, so don’t be shocked if you see me and Busta doing some things, real talk. I have to, I'm grown now. I need some new Mystikal music," he explained.
Mystikal added that he considers Birdman and Lil Wayne family, but it's time for him to make moves on his own
